ALL - BOTH - NEITHER - NONE


We use both, either and neither to refer to two people or things.

û  BOTH = this AND that

She speaks both languages.

I’m both happy and confused at the same time!



û  EITHER = this OR that

I haven’t read either of these books.

Either you or John has to finish the report before 5pm.



û  NEITHER = NOT this and NOT that.

Neither team wanted to lose.

I want neither the red shirt nor the blue shirt.



We use all and none to refer to more than two people or things.

û  ALL:
We all live in a yellow submarine. (We (all of us) live in a yellow submarine). 



û  NONE (frequently followed by of):

None of them spoke English. (Not one of them spoke English. )
